Grill grates can be awkward to handle. They’re generally covered in grease and are cumbersome. Indeed, if you need to change the setup of the grates during a cook, they can be scorching hot and filthy. In this Grill Gripper Tool review, I’ll take a look at the features and specifications of my grill grippers and explain their pro’s and con’s.

When it comes to cooking on your kamado, it’s important to use the right accessories. They can save you lots of time and even avoid injury. In this case, the grill gripper tool will avoid mess, save time and prevent you from getting burnt. I bought my grill gripper tool back when I got my first kamado. I use it to remove or adjust the grill grates on my Kamado Bono Grills.

HOW DO YOU USE IT?

This tool is really simple to use. Place the open jaws of the tool around the grill grate you want to move. Next, squeeze the handles of the tool and the jaws will close firmly around the grill grate. Lift the grill grate into place and then release the handles. The jaws open and release the grate.

Top tip: Wear a pair of heat resistant gloves when changing configurations during cooks. They’re indispensable.

I find this tool very useful for doing what it’s designed for. However, I think it could be a lot better. Firstly, I think that if the mouth of the tool had grippers (like on a pliers) then it wouldn’t allow the grate to slip and rotate. That would be a great improvement. Secondly, I think that the quality of the materials used could be improved. I mention this as my grippers show some signs of rust, which is a shame.
